Despite fearful rhetoric to the contrary, terrorism is not a transcendent threat. A terrorist attack cannot possibly destroy a country’s way of life; it’s only our reaction to that attack that can do that kind of damage. The more we undermine our own laws, the more we convert our buildings into fortresses, the more we reduce the freedoms and liberties at the foundation of our societies, the more we’re doing the terrorists’ job for them.
I think I’m going to continue to repost everything that bruce schneier says until someone, somewhere with common sense and the ability to actually change things sees it. not that they’re are coming to me for information or anything, it just seems the least i can do.
And I’ll continue to repost anything anyone else reposts about things Bruce Schneier says. Seeing this on CNN gives me hope: CNN is a barometer for popular sentiment — They don’t mess around with the fringes like HuffPo or Drudge so this means the idea that Security Theatre is catching on among the “normals.”
