CDM on the passing of Charlie Cooper →
I am happy to say that I was friendly with Charlie — as was everyone who he knew, because he was one of the nicest people in the Chicago electonic music scene.
We used to talk a lot about synthesizers and pre-amplifiers and guitars while drinking Maredsous at Danny’s Tavern ages ago when Danny’s was the place to go and talk about such things on Monday nights.
I last saw him a...
Welcome to the White House →
Obama administration had the new Whitehouse.gov website up within minutes of him taking the oath. If they can run the rest of the country the way they run the internet, I think things are going to be OK.

WKOW 27: Thousands of viewer comments, phone calls... →
This upsets me beyond belief. The behavior of these “open-source software advocates” is part of the reason Open Source Software isn’t taken seriously by the business world.
I agree, the reporters doing the story were under-informed, but they got the facts mostly right. Linux isn’t for everybody. Anyone attacking this poor woman because she can’t figure out why her...

Nerding out with the JavaScript →
Hey so I wrote a JavaScript Twitter feed grabber/displayer (as seen over there on the right of this page). I detailed the reasoning behind it and some nerdy technical gobbledygook over on my technical blog JoshVsComputers.
O Hai 2009
Okay, resolution time:
Write things that are longer than 140 characters.
See my friends that I don’t work with. I love my co-workers but Jesus it’s like a codependent relationship or something sometimes.
Participate in the music scene outside of my own band. Go to shows. Work on other people’s records.
Fit back in my old pants. Eek.
More vinyl. Put a record player in the...
Removed ye olde Twitter Feed →
I plan to use this as more of a traditional blog posting machine instead of just as a slightly defective mirror for my Twitter feed, so I have shut off the aggregation of tweets to here. If you want to read my fast-n-furious stream-of-consciousness daily tweetpile, you can just go to effing Twitter. Or Facebook, where they are still aggregated.
